We landed in Iceland around 2am. It was actually quite light outside, but it's hard to tell here because the camera flashed.

Walking to Guesthouse Pavi in downtown Reykjavik early in the morning, temperature maybe 45F.

Day one in Reykjavik, we wander towards the waterfront.

We found one of many biking paths here downtown

The pathway leads towards downtown-proper.

Oddly enough, this was the only water fountain we found during our entire vacation.

NO TRACTORS!

The bike path had this abstract Viking ship which was awesome

Out front of the Hallgrímskirkja, up at the highest point in the city.

The church had this gigantor organ in it - alas, no performances were scheduled until the construction guys were done making noise up on the scaffolding there.

I'm reading the ingredient label on a drink called "Malt Extract" (a primary ingredient in extract brewing!)

And then this European caterpillar started climbing on my hand...

Okay, so the Scandanavian-style architecture is completely awesome all of the time.

Their wall was MADE of PLANTS!!?!

We figured that the dog in that sign just pooped

FREE FLOATING STAIRS! Architectural marvel!

We totally got sunburned after day one (turns out it's easy to get burned when it's daylight all the time) so we went to our room and ate lots of exotic candies (most of which contained black licorice).

Here it is at 10pm with glaring daylight.

The tap water in Iceland tastes/smells very sulfurey (it's very volcanic there so they do lots of geothermal water-heating stuff). Teeth-brushing was kinda hard to do.

Day two, we go to the Blue Lagoon - a fantastic geothermal spa in the middle of the lava fields.

Awesome landscape 'round these parts.
