PAWS Pet of the Week

Bets and I were discussing my lack of picture taking whilst volunteering at PAWS every week. This sparked an idea for the masses (or at least the 7 awesome people who follow this blog):
PAWS Pet of the Week
Note: I'll try keeping it on the bright side of why the pups/kits are at PAWS, because I've heard some majorly saddening news in the past. Regardless, this will not deter me from giving you a little insight into what I experience every week at this cool operation called the Progressive Animal Welfare Society.
For this flagship week, I give you STUBBLE, the 12 year old Husky who's been at PAWS for about four weeks now.

This picture doesn't do this ol' man justice. I would take him home in a few seconds if Oly weren't such a stubborn old man himself.
Stubble was brought in a few weeks ago as an extremely terrified and timid novice to kennels. The owners apparently didn't care for Stubble that well, considering he had a chain scar on his neck and was emaciated...and when you touched him his 4 inch-long hair was rough and rigid, not unlike stubble on a chin (the obvious reason behind his name). But fortunately, after 12 grueling years of life Stubble can finally rest on a padded bed and eat as many hot dogs as I can muster.
I hope he finds his owners soon. He's getting along at the kennel now, but he deserves someone who'll feed him a plethora of delicacies and treat him like his/her beloved child.
It's quite interesting how unoften (word?) I claim I'd take a dog home. Out of the three years volunteering at PAWS, I can honestly say I've wanted to take less then ten dogs home. And if you average that out (considering I walk an average of 8 dogs per week): 8 dogs x ~49 weeks per year x 3 years = 1176 dogs.
~8 pups I've wanted to take home / 1176 pups x 100 for pecentage = 0.6% of total dogs that I'd take home (didn't expect to see math in this post, huh? Nerrrrrrrrrrd!). And that doesn't take into account the dogs I DIDN'T walk, which has to be at least four times as many. Does this low percentage mean I'm not kind-hearted? Probably not. I think after seeing so many pooches, I've come to refine the character and demeanor I find most suitable for me and the Futurewife (and the Butters and the Oly). There are plenty of pups out there, but one must create many filters unless one wants to turn out like Molly Shannon from Year of the Dog (an OK movie marketed very poorly, don't see it; just read about it).
I promise I'll keep the verbage to fewer nouns and adjectives next week.

Oly's getting used to the new house, methinks. Good dog.

This picture makes me curious to find out what's going on inside Butters' head. Is he intent on destroying the baby RC? Or is he merely curious and wants to do a friendly investigation? Let's just leave it at this: I wouldn't leave my baby alone with Butters. He's got a mischievous look behind his eyes. But Riley LOVES him! Good job Lin and Chris for training you baby to adore animals (and trained at 5 months!).
A little closer: Butters was very polite. I'm glad it didn't end tragically and have Riley hating kittens forever. Good job cat.
Anywho, since the AWESOME compilation of love songs Momlette and the fam put together, Bets and I were discussing which songs we would add to the list. We thought of a handful of songs, and for the next few weeks I'll give them out on AM Sunday.
Part one: Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes' Home.
Home's chorus consists of "home is wherever I'm with you" and that's pretty much the coolest phrase ever. Bets and I have a lot of homes.
